Misr- Textile Project (Home Furnishing)

COLLECTION BRIEF

'Misr' draws inspiration from the namesake civilisation on the banks of River Nile - Ancient Egypt. It romanticises the inquisitive blend of history and curiosity. The colours, compliant with the WGSN Global Colour A/W 19-20 forecast titled 'Light Magic', range from Nile Blue to Alluvium Brown, and the motifs are derived from artwork dating back to the glorious era such as that of the Eye of Horus, Falcon, Scarab Beetle, Ankh (Symbol of life and goddess Isis) and Hieroglyphic script.
The collection consists of five hand-made cushion covers measuring 16x16 inches. Techniques used include patchwork, reverse appliqué, and embroidery on cotton and shimmer fabrics of 100-120 TC. To compliment the cushions, Misr also features a pair of wall-hanging fabrics made by implementing the traditional technique of 'Dabu' mud-resisted block printing practiced at Pipar City, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
